Crite Park Update

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news about Crite Park and a few special events coming this fall!

CPA Grant Award
We’re proud to announce that Crite Park has been awarded a $332,247 CPA grant from the City Council! This generous grant will cover most of the remaining construction costs, and brings us another step closer to realizing our complete vision for the park.

Construction Progress
The park is coming together beautifully! The pergolas are being installed and pergola covers, seating, game tables, and plantings are on their way. We anticipate a mid-October park opening. The park will be fully usable, and we’ll continue our fundraising efforts to complete the fencing and install the planned artwork.

Celebrating South End Artist Allan Rohan Crite
This fall, two of Allan Rohan Crite’s favorite places — the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and the Boston Athenaeum — will partner to present curated exhibitions celebrating his life and work. The exhibits will feature a wide range of oils, watercolors, prints, and more, depicting Crite’s hallmark themes of South End/Roxbury community life and spiritual influences. Some works are being shown publicly for the first time!

The exhibitions open in mid-October and warmly invite the community to discover the beauty, multicultural richness, and multigenerational impact of Crite’s art. In partnership with the museums, a special walking tour will also be offered, highlighting Crite’s legacy — and Crite Park will be one of the featured stops! Stay tuned for more details.

Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm. We can’t wait to celebrate this milestone with you, and to honor the incredible legacy of Allan Rohan Crite.
