Bittersweet Violet
Bittersweet Violet is the brainchild of Lisa Costanzo, seamlessly blending her 35 years of advertising design experience with a deep passion for artisan chocolate. A member of Foundation Kitchen, Lisa currently produces her handcrafted confections using shared kitchen facilities in Charlestown while working toward her goal of opening a storefront in Boston’s South End. Her work reflects a thoughtful balance of design sensibility, fine art training and culinary craft.
Lisa’s journey into specialty chocolate began after studying Fine Arts at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, where she earned a traveling scholarship in painting. She later discovered the art of handmade chocolate through local workshops, which led her to formal training through The Professional Chocolatier Program at Ecole Chocolat and advanced coursework with leading industry experts. Today, she continues to refine her craft in Boston’s SoWa district, where she also maintains a practice in fine art painting alongside her chocolate work.
